As Product Manager, you will guide a team charged with building killer apps in focused vertical market segments primarily using web and mobile technologies. Responsibilities will range from increasing the profitability of existing products to developing new products. You will guide and direct the building of products from existing ideas, and help to develop new ideas based on working with customers and investment partners of all types.
Responsibilities and accountabilities
Drive all product management activities across development, marketing, sales and support teams to ensure that revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met.
- Act as a "whole-product architect"
- Manage the entire product line life cycle from concept to launch at the strategic to tactical levels:
- Complete high level assessments of product development opportunities
- Help create business plans and develop innovative ways to engage in new business relationships
- Conduct market research for current and future products supported by on-going visits with customers and non-customers
- Define the product strategy and roadmap that identifies key success criteria
- Develop product development and release plans
- Translate strategic business requirements into features lists for products or systems
- Satisfy and balance the needs of business, end user, and technical stakeholders in the product development process
- Together with marketing communications, define a company-wide go-to-market strategy based on the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer
- Orchestrate features and component reuse across different Intelliware Product Venture products
- Work closely with the development team to refine product release requirements:
- Guide "Features" writing, estimating, and prioritization processes
- Facilitate "Features" workshop sessions
- Work with external third parties to assess partnership and licensing opportunities
- Embrace and champion the "KIFAS" (Keep It Fast And Simple) mentality for product development
- Understand when manual processes are sometimes better than technical solutions
- Serve as the primary internal and external authority for product offerings
“Must have" Qualifications
In previous experience, you have seen a number of different products and systems, and have begun to see patterns in their successes and failures. You enjoy spending time in the market to understand customer problems, and find innovative solutions for the broader market.
- A minimum of five years of software marketing/product management experience
- Bachelor's Degree, ideally in Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics
- Demonstrated success in defining and launching excellent products
- Demonstrated ability to create innovative solutions to complex business problems
- Effective communication at all levels of the company and with customers
- Best practices in product development and technical product marketing (Crossing the Chasm, the Innovator's Dilemma etc., opinions on aspects of successful products)
- Exposure to and enthusiasm for Agile approaches to software development
- Knowledge and empathy for system usability issues
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams
- Excellent written communication skills
